Peace Out: Crocodile Hunter

I don’t usually blog about “News” type stuff around here because, well, you can get it elsewhere and I’m narcissistic like that. But I was saddened by the passing of Steve Irwin best known as the Australian Personality and Wildlife Conservationist: The Crocodile Hunter. I was a fan for about 5 minutes in the late 90’s but I’ve always liked the guy’s zest for life. He’s the perfect example of sliding into your grave sideways and Going Big. Peace out Crocodile Hunter.

  1. I can’t say I was ever a fan but I do like to see people who are actually excited about things that most people find extremely dangerous (which in his case…was!). A far cry from my childhood of watching Mutual of Omaha’s Wild kingdom where the “Great white hunter” Marlin Perkins would calmly narrate while he sent in local black assistant to “administer the tanquilizer” – yeah!

  2. I have seen him on several television shows, but I too can’t imagine doing what he did.

I feel so sorry for his small children and wife.

I know that they have a video of his death happening (the camera guy was with him in the water) – I hope that they DON’T show it on television (I have heard rumors that they might).
