Happy Happy Turkey Day, Yall

I woke up yesterday and looked out the window to find snow, snow on the ground, snow falling. I cut my workday short and got the hell out of New England. This morning I shed my layers, wool sweater, Columbia wicking socks, fleece and sped towards my parent’s house in the glorious, 70 degree sunshine. I am truly thankful for changes in lattitude. I miss my housemates though.

I am grateful for so many things, and this year has been magical. The last couple of years really, and I thank everyone who has touched me and those I love in some way. I’m also glad that my mother’s mother is still hanging in there. And sometimes, that’s enough. I’m also grateful that my Dad is cooking turkey, my Mom has made sauerkraut and sweet potatoe pie, my nephew made his 5 cheese and macaroni and his Eclair cake. So I will be the recipient of all of their culinary talents. I will definitely be giving Thanks for that!

So, are you cooking or are you showing up at someone else’s house to eat? Holler at us in the comments.

  1. We’re spending the day at home, just the two of us. Not cooking either (although we have, for just the two of us, many times). Picking up our ready-made fixin’s at Safeway in the morning…and then chowing down all day. 🙂

  2. We are here at home. Shida’s here too! Tons of food, family (in-laws, too) and some really good friends. Let’s not forget libations galore! Thankful for our health and that we need for nothing. Wishing the same to you and yours and all that read your fantastic blog. Catch ya soon!

    luv & smooches

  3. Marilyn! So good to hear from you chica. Low maintenance holidays are the best!

Blindian: oooh, i wish i was there for libations! (and love) but i’ll see you guys in a few weeks! hugs to yall and shida!

Adrienne: oh lawd, why mama why?! well, take as many breaks as you need iron chef. at least you won’t have to cook for a few days…

  4. Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! Had dinner with my girl’s folks and some cousins. Dinner was fine. Trivial Pursuit afterward got out of hand. I’m thankful to be back home.

  5. I cooked for Scott and Scotty and had them back for leftovers and Scotty for a sleep-over on Friday night. I saw Skip and Kaye on Thanksgiving too for a few minutes.
I guess the Highland Springs group were busy doing their own things :().

  6. how in the world does Trivial Pursuit get out of hand? Nerdfight?

ornery 72-year-old father who thinks he’s funny + 3 out of 8 people who like to randomly talk about nothing at all and not pay attention + orginal genus edition where the questions are older than me and half the countries don’t exist anymore = Trivial Pursuit out of hand
