On The Road Again (4 Work)

[1]
Boston
Philly
New York
Miami
Orlando
Minneapolis

And that’s just THIS month! Fortunately I love what I do, so that makes it easy and I’ve been traveling my entire career except for the very first year, so now I know someone or someplace I love in almost every city I have to visit. Cool.

[2] On the up side I found out that Stella will be in Orlando so we’ll get to cut up in yet another state together. So much for sleep, credit limits, and a healthy diet. I don’t think we could possibly top last year’s shenanigans (sp?) in Atlanta and I’m too old to want to try.

[3] I actually used the phrase “I’m old enough to be your mama.” this past weekend. And it was true. I got carded buying some wine for an event and a 16 year old asked me if I was still in College or Grad School.

[4] Does anybody else love Hampton Inn hotels as much as I do? Probably not, but you should.

[5] Five things I can’t travel (4 work) without:

1. Delsey hardcase rolling suitcase in electric blue.
2. Mentha Lip Shine Lip Gloss
3. Sleep mask for trains/planes
4. iPod
5. A Book

What Five things must you have when you travel? Keep it clean folks!

  1. Please explain to me why the Hampton Inns are fabulous? You know I sleep in hotels 24/7, but they never get the luxury of my booking.

    Do you ever slow down?

I’ll be in Tampa at home for once Sept 16-22 if you are in Orlando around that time let a girl know – it’s not too far.

    Things for work travel hmmm…

    1. Digital SLR camera
    2. iPod
    3. Laptop
    4. HP Printers (because I’m paid to…)
    5. Sea salt scrub (random – I know)

  2. I don’t travel for work, but the things I need are:

    1. My assortment of pills (never used to worry about these when I was your age)
    2. My hairdryer (not much hair, but still use one everyday)
    3. A book (I really read toooo much)
    4. More clothes than I would ever really use on any trip
    5. More jewelry than is required (silver/gold watches/earrings/necklaces)

    Have fun on your travels.

  3. Hi-o!

    When on the road…
    1. ipod absolutely
    2. My keys, which at this point are to too many people’s houses
    3. Costco Membership because even in South Korea they have Costco
    4. A jacket (why is it that the heat is never set on 95 and bacon crispy but people can always turn the AC up to Antartica?)
    5. A deck of cards

    Safe journies!

  5. Don’t know what your schedule is like while you’re in Minneapolis, but let me know when you get here and I’ll try and catch up with ya.

  6. Hampton Inns rule. I will drive the extra mile(s) to find one. Something about the Feng Shui of the rooms. Don’t tr

    (1) Teddy Bear
    (2) 2 books (gotta have a choice)
    (3) Deck of cards
    (4) computer (even if I never plug it in, gotta have a choice)
    (5) spare change

  7. OK, so we’re finally booked for Peru/Chile. Any chance you could make an Oct 1 departure for a 5d/4n trek to Machu Picchu?

And what size is your Delsey? I’m needing to replace my Tumi roller (some lifetime warranty!) and am in the market…

  8. I’ll see you in Orlando and Minneapolis –

I always realize the things I have to have once I’m there. I don’t have an ipod – so I always try to remind myself to bring a headset so I can listen to something on the plane. I love how on United I can listen to the pilot..so cool. Anyway, I never remember the darn things – I’ve lip read more movies than I really want to think about.

I’ll keep my eye out for you! Safe travels.

  9. You owe $50 bucks to whoever introduced you to Hampton Inn!!…although I have NO idea who that would be….

    I can’t travel without:

    1) Jonathan

    2) iPod-although I officially buried mine last night after I got the sad face symbol (just in time for the release of the new ‘Touch’)!

    3) small bag of pretzles and a 20 oz. ginger ale

    4) Free real estate for sale magazines/pamphlets from whatever city I’m visiting

    5) AMEX (even thought its not accepted everywhere, its still my favorite)

  10. A Hampton Inn saved our ass when we accidentally booked Motel Seedy in Memphis and walked out after seeing one too many discarded condoms on the property. I’m no priss, but… I sent my girl off to her academic conference at the lovely Peabody, which we just couldn’t afford at the time, and set off to find somewhere clean, welcoming, and within our budget. The nicer places in town were all booked up, so I crossed the border into West Memphis, Arkansas, where a spiffy looking Hampton Inn caught my eye. Its rate and free breakfast made us not mind quite as much the dog track it sat next to.

    1) neck pillow

    2) book

    3) earplugs

    4) laptop or writing tablet

    5) crazy meds

And really, of the items on that list, the only thing I can’t readily buy if I forget it at home is the crazy meds, so better move those up to number 1.
